Transport infrastructure, such as roads, and train lines, are some of the major forces forming our cities and urban regions today and defining relationships between city centers and their peripheries. At the same time, new forms of mobility, such as car-sharing, e-bikes and bikeways are being introduced, that have the potential to reshape our cities fundamentally.

The panel will discuss the impact of infrastructure and new forms of mobility on our urban environment with a focus on the tri-national region of Basel, while bringing in international best-practice examples. Basel and its region are undergoing some of the most substantial construction projects in decades. With the development of new residential neighborhoods, logistic sites, commercial hubs and cross-border expansions, the question of infrastructure and mobility will be decisive for how the region and its core city will develop and integrate far into the 21st century.
